The amount of history packed into this place is incredible. It is a bit off the beaten track for tourists but it is so full of history that it’s well worth a visit. The kids have a great time exploring and the vast number of stairs always knackers them.

Machrie Moor
This is one of my favourite walks on Arran for families, and not too strenuous for anyone. The Machrie Moor standing stones are beautiful and impressive and honestly, a little bit magical. Highly recommend.
The Wallace Monument
We love visiting the Wallace Monument. The kids had a great time climbing the monument and playing on each floor. It’s surprisingly child friendly, and that view from the top is totally worth the climb. The walk up the hill is lovely too.
St Andrews Castle
We visited St Andrews Castle during our wee trip to Fife back in March. It has a really interesting history and the kids loved exploring all the different parts of the castle. A fun few hours!
