If you want to explore Loch Lomond and have a few hours to spare, then taking a little road trip aong the bonny bonny banks is absolutely the way to do it. Grab some snacks, screens for the kids while driving, a good playlist and off you go.

Bennachie is a great place to explore with kids. There are options on how far you want to walk, still taking in a mountain peak, so you can either head to Mither Tap and back down, or head further along the trails to the other peaks in the range. The views from the top are stunning. It really is one of the best wee hills in Scotland.
We visited the Cairngorm Reindeer Herd on our last trip to Aviemore. It was such a fun activity for all ages and the reindeer really were gentle giants. A highlight of our trip.
We’ve been to Arran quite a few times now with the kids; twice in the past year for a short break, and honestly every time we go I love it more. The walks and activities that you want to do may well depend on the age of your kids. But if you have a whole 48 hour weekend to spend on Arran, here are the things I would try to fit in while you’re there.
There is so much to see and do at Blair Drummond. Top things not to miss are the safari drive to see all the animals, the lemur walk through and the astroglide. It is a full on day out, but I can honestly say it’s one of our favourite places to visit, even though we’re always knackered after it.
